The castings are made of Soulid 238, our unique technical compound which is 30% lighter than magnesium but just as strong and wich has great vibration damping properties. We’ve incorporated a Basalt center column (20% lighter than aluminium) for further weight reduction and to improve stabilisation and performance.
Most importantly, the aluminum tube used for the legs is also new: 30% lighter than its predecessor, with Anti Leg Rotation system (ALR), 1.2mm wall thickness and brushed matt black finish for improved locking performance and minimised reflectivity. We’ve also put technology to work on the leg warmers: 50% lighter, softer and with a new ergonomic design that maximises grip and comfort when the tripod is carried over the shoulder. New aluminum tripods feature Ground Level Set and removable feet. These tripods come with a convenient anti-dust bag for storage and packing.

The G1380 is a professional fluid video head designed for lightweight ENG cameras. This head incorporates key video features such as perfect balancing system, variable fluid drag control on pan and tilt movements for smooth repeatable actions, separate pan and tilt locks. The counterbalance system is adjustable with 6 interchangeable springs included to cover camera weights from 1 to 10kg.
In case of loss of any of the springs, a complete spring set is available including spare spring cover, bolt, tools and instructions (code G1380SPG).
The head comes with one reversible pan bar for right and left-handed users. The quick release plate adapter features a safety release button to prevent the plate accidentally falling out.

When Gitzo launched the Mountaineer tripods in 1994, they were the World’s first carbon fiber tripods. Ever since then they’ve set the standard for performance and quality.
The main feature of the range is the new 6X carbon fiber tube, made of a unique structure of 6 crossed layers that maximises rigidity, vibration absorption and lightweight performance. 6X tube has a high density structure made of top quality ultra-thin carbon fibers (7µm or 0.007 mm). Built-in Anti Leg Rotation is now a feature of the whole carbon fiber range. Mountaineer tripods have been further improved with features and details that increase performance, versatility and quality.
G-Lock is our leg locking system that increases system rigidity by 20% and allows quicker and stronger leg locking.
